2019 is here and with just one month into the new year, it seems to be very promising for the music scene and music enthusiasts. With many artists releasing new material, many who have been on hiatus for a while now the excitement continues to build up. Based on what we know, from Alternative to Trap music, here are just some of the most anticipated upcoming albums of 2019.

Rihanna (TBA)

Rihanna has been killing the game for about a little more than a decade now, loved by many, her name is very prominent in the music industry. Since the release of “Anti” in 2016, fans have been begging the “Needed Me” singer for a follow-up. Because of her long hiatus from the music scene, fans have been non-stop thirsting and anticipating new music. So here’s what we know about the upcoming record, it’s supposed to be a mix between Dance-hall and Reggae, the recording process has started and the album is set to be released sometime this year.

 Ariana Grande (“Thank U, Next”)

Ariana Grande gained a lot of buzz when she first released her Debut Single “The Way”, since then the “Thank U, Next” singer has gained recognition and has received a great amount success. Recently having two singles debut #1 at the Billboard Hot 100. The singer’s fifth studio album, “Thank U, Next” is expected to be released February 8th, just a few months after the release of her fourth studio album, “Sweetener.”

 

Cardi B (TBA)

Cardi announced her new album on new years eve, which is yet to be named. She stated that she wants to have it released around the same time that “Invasion of Privacy” (her debut album) came out, which is around April. Cardi has said she will do her best to get it out as soon as possible but has said she is very busy with other events in her career as we can all clearly see.

 

 The Weeknd (“Chapter 6”)

“Chapter 6” is what The Weeknd has referred to his new album as but it has no official name as of now. His latest album was back in 2016 and it was titled “Starboy” which was very successful. He also dropped an ep in March of 2018 titled “My Dear Melancholy.” More recently he dropped a track titled “Lost in the fire” in January 2019, the album could have anywhere from 10 to 20 songs, there is no official release date as of now.

 

 

Billie Eilish (“WHEN WE ALL FALL ASLEEP, WHERE DO WE GO?”)

 Her debut album is titled “When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go”, it is set to be released on March 29th. The album cover has been released as well as a few singles. The singles are titled, “Bury A Friend,” “You Should See Me In A Crown,” and “When The Party’s Over.” The track list for her upcoming album has also been released, so everything is in place to be out in March.

 

 J Cole (“Revenge Of The Dreamers III”)

“Revenge of the dreamers III” is the title for Cole’s newest project, the release is yet to be announced but he has released a teaser track titled “Middle Child.” The album is a collaboration of Dreamville artists like Ari Lennox, JID, EarthGang, Bas, Cozz, Omen, and Lute. That is all that is known as of now.

 

 

 Lana Del Rey (“Norman F*****g Rockwell”)

“Norman F****** Rockwell” has been hinted to release around March or April, this is Lana’s sixth studio album. She has released 3 songs in the past few months but she has yet to drop an official lead single. The songs are titled “Hope Is A Dangerous Thing For A Woman Like Me But I Have It,” “Mariners Apartment Complex,” and “Venice B****”. No official cover has been released as of now.

 

  The 1975 (“Notes On A Conditional Form”)

The 1975 have announced their new album just a few months after their last, “Notes On A Conditional Form” was released. They have teased a November release date but nothing is set yet. They have released a total of 3 singles and have also announced a tour along with the album tracklist and pre-order. They are currently on tour but are still working on music.

Tame Impala made news when it was announced they would be headlining Coachella. Along with the news of a new album, the band has teased new sounds and they’re expected to release sometime this year.

The Welsh singer/songwriter formerly known as “Marina And The Diamonds” is making her big comeback to the music scene. After the release of her third studio album, “FROOT” Marina decided to take a break from music, her lead single, “Handmade Heaven” is said to be released February 8th, the album is expected to drop sometime this year.
