This year, the students of Weiss High School were able to participate in the 17th Annual District Student Art Show. This took place at the Pflugerville Public Library where two separate shows were displayed. The first will be shown from April 20 to May 4 with 10 elementary schools, 3 middle schools and 2 high schools participating . The second show will take place from May 4 to May 18 with 1 primary school,10 elementary schools,3 middle schools and 2 high schools participating.

The art displayed in the art show was carefully selected from our two teachers, Elise Koonce and Michael Ivy.

“Surrealism paintings,  linear perspective, realistic drawings, 3D art work (ceramics) and collaborate paintings in shoes with Vans were all shown, with a little bit of everything from Art 1 to Art 3. I thought our paintings stood out among the rest because we where one of the only schools who participated in surrealism, which requires a higher and more complex way of thinking. Our competition was strong but our ideas stood out the most. With our school only being from. grades 9 to 10, we really had to push the boundaries of creativity, and ended up submitting just as many artworks as the other high schools in the district. I was very proud of that.”
